What is YÖS?

What is YÖS?

The YÖS (Foreign Student Admission Exam) is an entrance exam used by foreign students applying to study at universities in Turkey and is taken into consideration during the placement process. Previously, each university held its own exam, but in 2010, a decision was made to hold a centralized exam, which began to be administered under the name “Turkey Foreign Student Admission Exam” (TR-YÖS).

TR-YÖS is an exam organized by ÖSYM every year and held twice a year. The exam measures students’ proficiency in mathematics, logic, and Turkish, providing fair and standardized admission to universities in Turkey.

In addition, universities in Turkey also accept internationally recognized exam results. Exams such as SAT, ACT, GCE, and various national exams from different countries provide opportunities for students from different education systems to study in Turkey. This allows students to find an admission route suitable for their academic background and enroll in higher education institutions in Turkey.

While accurately measuring students’ academic achievements, YÖS also helps Turkish universities increase diversity and quality internationally. As YÖS Advisor, our goal is to ensure that students are properly informed during this process, complete their applications without omission, and confidently begin their educational journey in Turkey.
