What is TR-YÖS?

As your YÖS Advisor, we explain the TR-YÖS exam, one of the most fundamental concepts for international students seeking to pursue university education in Turkey.

TR-YÖS (Turkey Foreign Student Exam) is a centralized exam used by foreign students in the application and placement process for universities in Turkey. Previously, each university organized its own YÖS exam, but with a decision made in 2010, a centralized exam system was adopted and implemented under the name TR-YÖS.

TR-YÖS is administered twice a year by ÖSYM and assesses candidates’ knowledge in areas such as Basic Mathematics, Logic, and General Aptitude. These exam results are taken into account in the placement process for foreign student quotas at universities.

In addition to TR-YÖS, some universities also accept internationally recognized exam results such as SAT, ACT, and GCE. YÖS Danışmanım helps candidates determine which exam is valid for which university and make the most appropriate choice.
